Creamy Cacao Smoothie
This Creamy Cacao Smoothie is so yummy it is my new favorite raw food breakfast! If you haven't heard yet, I am a cacao lover (who isn't?) and therefore am always trying to make different delicious cacao recipes. I had been experimenting for quite some time on making the perfect cacao smoothie and I think I have come really pretty close with this one!
This smoothie is rich and creamy. It is almost more like an ice cream than a smoothie it is so thick! I feel like it has just the right amount of cacao taste, not overpowering like I have been known for in the past!
The only downside of this smoothie is that it doesn't have any greens in it, so I feel it is more like a treat. But sometimes you just gotta give in to your tastebuds and not listen to your analytical brain. At least that is what I tell myself as I'm gulping down this deliciousness!
I am sure if you really wanted to, you could throw in some baby spinach or other mild green and probably not even notice much of a difference except for in color, but I just haven't wanted to chance it yet to find out!
- 2 bananas, frozen
- 1 banana, not frozen
- 1 Tablespoon almond butter
- 1 Tablespoon agave
- 1 heaping Tablespoon cacao powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4-1/2 cup almond milk (enough to make it turn in the blender, but not so much to make it runny - you want this thick!)
To make the smoothie, just throw everything in the blender and blend until thick and creamy.
It is best to make this in a good blender like a Vita-mix because the frozen bananas can be rough on a cheaper blender. I hope you enjoy this easy raw food breakfast smoothie!
